John Pearson – Photographer

I have known John Pearson going on two decades now. If I had to describe John in one word it would probably be generous. He is generous with his time and his energy to friends and acquaintances. When, after 14 years, I began to recover from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome I thought about doing websites and so created one for John as a way to get going and to say thank you for years of friendship.

This is my second website. I created the first for my wife, Thai cooking teacher and author, Kasma Loha-unchit – her site is Thai Food and Travel dot com, so if you like Thai food, check it out.

I'm a firm believer in simple sites, largely text-based, that download quickly and are easy to use. I hope I have attained that here. It was a fun site to do – so many beautiful images to work with. Another site I designed is Marie Simmons' Cooking World.

My third site was Torino Baking. I think I put on weight just looking at the pictures.

This site was designed on a Mac G4. Most photographs were taken from a CD-ROM that John had made for him from his slides. The book covers and a number of other photos were scanned on my trusty Hewlett-Packard ScanJet IIC scanner, purchased well over a decade ago for $1,500, a ridiculous amount by today's standards. Thanks to John & (his wife) Liz for proofing and catching a number of gaffes. Any that remain are completely my fault.
